Abstract: Using primarily linguistic evidence, comparative religious data, as well as semiotics, this presentation seeks to highlight the conceptual, ritual and symbolic continuities between Ancient ciKam (Kemet), and the modern Yoruba spiritual system and deity known as Ifá/òpẹ̀lẹ̀ (Arabic ‘aaf, Mina fa). We will also demonstrate that Africans had their own Theory of Evolution and we argue that this theory played a critical role in the development of African spiritual systems. We will see just how this theory of evolution manifested itself in two of Africa’s major cultural systems: i.e. Ancient ciKam and Odu Ifá.
